Spiro J. Verras, Esq.

Spiro’s professional background includes estate planning and probate, elder law, corporate and business law, real estate and closings, intellectual property, immigration, and civil litigation of all types, with wide experience in admiralty and environmental law, serious personal injury and probate litigation. He has handled class actions, consumer protection, and privacy matters, and was the first attorney to sue Microsoft in the In Re Microsoft Consumer Antitrust Litigation. He has also pursued claims against major financial institutions on behalf of defrauded customers, and he has tirelessly championed civil rights suits.

A native of Tarpon Springs, Florida, Spiro was formerly a partner at Jones, Verras & Freiberg, a New Orleans-based multistate law firm. After returning to the Tampa Bay area, Spiro served as a partner at the Bilirakis Law Group and was also a co-founder of the groundbreaking Unthink social media project, which sought to empower individuals and provide comprehensive privacy and ownership rights. Throughout his career, Spiro has been a zealous advocate for his clients, and he brings the same passion to his estate planning and transactional work. 

Spiro’s current practice focuses on estate planning, probate, and trusts, elder law, guardianships, and corporate and commercial transactions. Practicing in a small firm setting for the first time in his career, he has leveraged state-of-the-art technology to create a relaxed office environment with the capabilities of a large firm. Spiro has carefully selected a team that shares his commitment to understanding every client’s concerns and giving each client personalized attention and care.

Spiro is active in bar organizations, including the Clearwater Bar Association and the Hillsborough County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Real Property Probate and Trust Law, Elder Law, and Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Sections of the Florida Bar; the Trusts, Estate, Probate & Immovable Property Law Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association; and the Real Estate, Probate & Trust Law and LGBT Law Sections of the Texas Bar. Within the Florida Bar’s Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section, Spiro is a member of the Ad Hoc Study Committee On Same-Sex Marriage Issues; the Guardianship, Power of Attorney & Advance Directives Committee; the Asset Protection Committee; the Digital Assets and Information Study Committee; the Trust Law Committee; and the Probate Law & Procedure Committee. In addition to his state bar memberships, Spiro has been admitted to practice in local federal district courts, the US Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, the US Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the US Supreme Court. He is also a member of the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
